"I have been going to brooklyns spine for a couple months now to correct my herniated disc and hip misalignment. The experience has been wonderful. The office is clean and well run. The staff is very supportive and professional. Nadia in the front is always helpful and helps schedule the best times. Dana in the back is always a pleasure to be around. She helps you get setup and helps you on and off the tables. Dr Stephanie and Dr Fran are expert magicians with their craft. They help adjust and align my hips and spinal adjustment. After a couple session with the decompression therapy my back pains has definitely improved. I would say without them, the quality of life wouldn’t be the same. I would be immobile and suffering from sciatica. Hands down best decision I ever made." - Ricky

How 3 Common Conditions May Be Helped

Herniated discs:

With this condition, you have the jelly-filled doughnut (the disc or cushion) and through wear and tear and injury, that gel or disc can either fragment or rupture. That disc can enter spaces where the nerves are that it’s not supposed to. The result is that it can cause sharp low back pain, pain in your leg, tingling and numbness.

With non-surgical spinal decompression, we put a patient on the table and specifically target the disc that’s injured. The table gently and safely pulls the discs apart to open up the space between the two bones. This is called a reverse vacuum effect.

Sciatica:

Sciatica is an irritation of the sciatic nerve that could be caused by a disc rupture, bulging disc or disc injury. If the doctor determines—through an exam and tests—that spinal decompression may help, here’s how it works: the spinal decompression table will help pull and create space for that disc through intradiscal pressure, which helps take the disc back into its cavity. By doing that, it takes the pressure off the sciatic nerve.

Spinal stenosis:

With this condition, the holes where the nerves come out of are irritated and inflamed. The cause of the stenosis is compression, stress and inflammation. The table would pull apart, decompress and create less stress in the system, and the decompression would relieve a lot of stress off those nerves, alleviating the symptoms.
